Friends Relive Indian Student's Shooting

Friends of an Indian student who was shot dead by a stranger in front of them are giving evidence in court.

It is claimed that Kiaran Stapleton, 21, walked up to Anuj Bidve, 23, and his friends in the street in Ordsall, Salford, in the early hours of Boxing Day.

He asked them the time and when someone answered Stapleton pulled out a gun without warning, put it to Mr Bidve's head and fired one shot, it is alleged.

One of the friends, Nitish Jalali, said the gunman then laughed in a "sarcastic" way after the shooting.

Mr Bidve's parents, Subhash and Yogini, have flown from their home in Pune, India, to attend the trial, which is expected to last up to four weeks.
