Full details of who is performing at Bishop Auckland's inaugural Summer Fest

Bishop Auckland is set to host a new arts festival this summer, featuring an exciting line-up of live performances, cinema and music.

Organised by The Auckland Project, Summer Fest, will take place between June 22 and July 20 at Auckland Castle.

The line-up promises entertainment for all ages, including popular film screenings and diverse music genres such as country, pop, folk, rock 'n' roll and Motown.

First up, on June 22, don ABBA tribute act, "Mania".

Followed by "A Country Night in Nashville" on June 23.

Award-winning folk group, The Unthanks will perform on June 28.

The Royal Northern Sinfonia returns to Auckland Castle on Jun 29, promising a memorable evening of classical music.

The "Family Night" on June 30 offers a selection of family-friendly performances such as the Unicorn Dance Party and Save Our Sandwich.

As July commences, it brings with it the musical genre of the 60s with a Motown-themed evening on July 5.

This is followed by "Beyond the Barricade", a show featuring West End and Broadway musical hits on July 6.

Elvis and Queen tribute acts entertain crowds on July 12 and 13, respectively.

The "Community Concert" on July 14 showcases a local band playing a wide range of music, and then prepare for outdoor cinema nights with "The Princess Bride" and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" on July 19 and 20.

Chief operating officer at The Auckland Project, Jared Bowers, said: "Our inaugural Summer Fest, is the perfect way to enjoy the long summer weekend evenings: full of relaxation, good friends, good entertainment and good food."

Guests are invited to bring picnic blankets and chairs to ensure their comfort during showings and performances.

Food and drink outlets will be available on-site, and picnics are welcome.

Tickets for family night and outdoor cinema start from £12, whilst concerts are priced at £25.
