Full list of 45 Lloyds Bank branch closures - including one in Birmingham

Lloyds Bank has said it is closing 28 branches - including one in Birmingham - as "most customers" were using mobile or online banking. The branches will shut between October this year and June 2025.

The move will also see Lloyds Banking Group pull the shutters down on 17 Halifax branches and axe 15 Bank of Scotland sites, The Sun reports. The Kitts Green branch of Lloyds Bank will close on January 27 as customers were using it "much less".

An average of 285 people made transactions at the counter or Immediate Deposit Machine (IDM) of the branch in four months out of six ending February 2024. The bank said 70 per cent of personal customers had also used other Lloyds Bank branches in a 12 month period ending February 2014.

In the same 12-month period, 40 per cent of personal customers had also used the Post Office for their banking needs. Lloyds told Kitts Green customers their closest alternative branches were 1.76 miles away in Chelmsley Wood and 1.79 miles away in Castle Bromwich.

A spokesperson told the publication: “Mobile banking is more popular than ever with over 19 million customers choosing our app to manage their money. Alongside our app, customers can bank online, over the phone, at a Banking Hub, a Post Office or by speaking to one of our Community Bankers."
