The countdown is on. There is just a matter of weeks before Take That returns to Teesside on their This Life tour.

Thousands of fans are set to pour into the Riverside Stadium when Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen bring their sell-out tour to Middlesbrough. The band has already played several dates across the country - and is expected to dazzle superfans on Teesside with waterfalls, spinning stages, pyrotechnics and hits from their decades-long career.

If you're planning on heading to the gig on May 24, it's best to know exactly what you can and can't bring inside. The Riverside Stadium has published a detailed list of items that people are both fine to bring to the home of the Boro - and others that are strictly prohibited, such as alcohol, glass and laser pens.

The stadium has confirmed that people may be subjected to a body and/or bag search at the entrance to the site, as a condition of entry. Any person suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or to carry out illegal activities onsite, will be asked to leave.

Security teams will be stationed at each site entrance. There are three entrances at the ground for the concert, two near the south stand between the west and east fan villages and another straight into the west fan village, with maps outlining the plans on the Middlesbrough Football Club website.

What should I NOT bring with me?

The following is a basic list of prohibited items. Please view the Event Regulations to see the full list of prohibited articles.

  • Alcohol, except for hand sanitizer.

  • Controlled drugs.

  • Glass, cans, plastic bottles, or thermos flasks of any kind.

  • Flammable liquids and aerosols (this includes perfume, after-shave, hairspray, etc). If you bring these in, they cannot be stored for a later collection, so leave them at home or in the car.

  • Laser pens/pointers.

  • Laptops, iPads or similar electronic tablets, professional cameras/video equipment.

  • Food and drink, unless for medicinal purposes. Gluten-free food and drink are also prohibited, as these options are available on-site. Please notify the stadium prior to the day of the event if you need to bring items for medicinal use by emailing Concert-accessibility-24@mfc.co.uk

  • Umbrellas - even if it rains - and signs, banners, flags, inflatables, and selfie sticks.

  • Air horns, whistles, or other noise-making devices.

  • Knives and other weapons, fireworks, smoke bombs, confetti, glitter bombs, or sprays.

  • Any other items, publicised in advance by stadium management and/or the promoters, or to which they raise objections on the day of the event.

Admission may be refused to anyone carrying one or more of the items listed above. The stadium says: "It will be each ticket holder’s responsibility to dispose of any items that cannot be brought into the venue. Please note it will not be possible for any such items to be stored and collected again after the event."

No need to worry about not being able to bring in food and drink either, as there will a wide range of food and drink available to purchase at the west and east fan villages from 3.30pm on the day.

What CAN I bring with me?

While the stadium is asking people not to bring a bag to the event if possible in a bid to speed up entry, you are still able to.

If you do need to bring one, it must be no bigger than A4 in size - and anything bigger will not be allowed into the ground. The bag will be searched, and anything listed on the prohibited items list will be confiscated before entry.

If you have an illness, there will be no facilities to keep medicine, so you will need to keep it on your person at all times. If you do need to bring medication, please email Concert-accessibility-24@mfc.co.uk at least 14 days before the event outlining your requirement to bring personal medication on site.

Once approved, you need to bring the confirmation email with you and your medication inside a clear plastic bag. It will be inspected at the site entrances.
