A DAY at the races, glorious weather and a huge crowd bouncing to the sound of Ibiza classics – summer has arrived at Haydock Park.

Saturday was the first of the racecourse’s three live music racedays for the summer season, with Pete Tong on the DJ decks.

The music nights are always popular, and this one proved no different, with the concourses packed out throughout the day for racing.

After the racing, the hordes, with perhaps more attending than expected due to the warm and sunny weather, made their way down the course for the main event.

A brand-new live show for 2024, Pete delivered when he promised ‘an expert collision of worlds of classical and club anthems’.

Racegoers enjoyed reimagined versions of house tracks including Rhythm Is A Dancer, Horny, Rhythm of the Night and Feel The Love’.

These were followed by forever fan favourites such as Insomnia, Cafe Del Mar and more.

The 63-year-old BBC Radio 1 DJ was joined on the Haydock Park stage by the 65-piece Essential Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley.

Coupled with eye-catching visual effects such as strobe lighting and lasers, it made for a great evening of music.

Haydock organisers certainly did not get it all ‘Pete Tong’ with this booking, with two more music nights to follow.

Next to take to the stage will be Busted on July 20, with the noughties pop-punk band headlining the venue’s live music season.

Consisting of James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson, expect the likes of Year 3,000, Crashed The Wedding, Air Hostess and What I Went To School For.

Then on August 9, The Earth, Wind and Fire Experience by Al McKay will be delivering hit after hit made famous by the iconic group.

September, Boogie Wonderland, Let’s Groove and After The Love Has Gone are sure to be just some of the tracks getting the Haydock crowd dancing away.
