Young people in Glasgow are set to benefit from a £1,000 community council grant.

Impact Arts received the financial boost from Merchant City and Trongate Community Council (MCTCC) for its Cashback Summer programme aimed at those aged 14 to 19.

The charity, founded 30 years ago, uses creativity and visual arts to combat challenges facing those living in poverty.

These problems include issues like poor physical and mental health, trauma, low educational achievement, and high unemployment risks.

Tam Coyle, chair of MCTCC, said: "As the residents’ association for the heart of Glasgow, we are constantly striving to improve the area for the benefit of everyone living, working and visiting the area.

"We are delighted to help this vibrant organisation in its mission to boost the lives of youngsters who may not have had the best starts in life."
