Fundraising concert to celebrate life of popular musician

A fundraising live music event will take place in Worcester in memory of a beloved musician.

The Firefly on Lowesmoor in Worcester will open its doors on Saturday, September 7 for a charity concert, "Angel of Rage," dedicated to the memory of Worcestershire musician Anj Avraam.

The proceeds of the event will benefit Pancreatic Cancer UK, a cause close to the hearts of many as Mr Avraam, formerly the lead singer of nu-metal bands Wiseleaf and Case Closed, lost his battle with this form of cancer in March 2021.

Organisers hope to reach a fundraising target of £1,000 during the show.

Xen Angeli, Mr Avraam's brother, will stage performances from four artists - his band Unto The Ages, Convey, Thylacine, and Jai White - to pay tribute and help maximise the funds raised for the charity.

Mr Avraam's premature passing at just 42 years old highlights the devastating reach of pancreatic cancer, especially when more than half of those diagnosed die within three months. Mr Avraam himself was told he only had a matter of weeks to live when diagnosed with the cancer.

Despite advancements in most cancer treatments, the survival rate for pancreatic cancer remains low, a reality that Pancreatic Cancer UK strives to change through research, awareness campaigns, supporting those affected, and events like these.

The live music fundraiser will unite the county's artists and the Worcestershire community for a night of goodwill and remembrance.

The event aims not only to hit the fundraising target but also to raise awareness of the disease and the urgent need for research and support.

Once known for his musical prowess, Anj Avraam's legacy now also extends to this worthwhile cause, making the difference that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.

The organisers are appealing for donations made through the JustGiving page (Angel of Rage) and also encourage supporters to raise awareness of the event to ensure a successful night.
