The team at Greenock record store Reverence Music love seeing and promoting all the local talent on offer.

And we'd like to invite any seasoned performers - or beginners who are ready to step up behind that mic - to get in contact with us for a chance to be featured as part of our live music sessions in the Oak Mall store.

This week live in the store we have something special for you. We’re bringing you something different from what we’ve had any of the previous weeks - some Funk. This week, we introduce Sovirez.

Sovirez is a love letter to classic funk and soul with all the energy of modern dance and pop.

This combination results in songs that will stick in your head for a long time and a live show unlikely to be forgotten.

Funk and soul band Sovirez formed in 2019, quickly honing an infectious sound and establishing themselves as a high energy and impactful live act. The band have had regular radio play on BBC Introducing Scotland, BBC Rapal, Amazing Radio UK/USA plus many more.

In addition, their single Stadium Heights was chosen as single of the week in April 2022 for BBC Radio Scotland’s The Afternoon Show.

Their album Ya Funkin’ Dancer!, is a very lively, comedic, easy listen album, with the music video for the track Playtime matching the playful energy of the song. It’s a personal favourite, it gave me a good chuckle.

The vocal melodies and Trumpet on the track Elevator Music also stood out to us, it was stuck in our heads for hours after listening.

They released the track, MUTHA FUNK! in 2022, which gives major Bruno Mars vibes, an instant hit.

The band has continued bringing out some dance inspiring music by releasing two singles last year, All Night and What I Gotta Do? last year which only added to their ability to make you want to dance like nobody's watching.

The band has had notable support slots with the likes of Callum Beattie, Wrest, Mickey 9s, Brownbear and Blue Rose Code, as well as sold out headline shows at small venues across Scotland.

This year sees the band playing at festivals and shows with further single releases planned for later in the year.

Be sure to head down to the shop on Saturday, June 29, 12pm to 3pm to see them live. You can also check out the band's Spotify and keep up to date with their social media to catch them at events throughout the remainder of the year.
