Fury vs Wilder 3: UK time, fight card, prediction, ring walks and latest betting odds

The third instalment of the so-far epic trilogy of fights between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder takes place in Las Vegas tonight as the pair go head-to-head for the WBC world heavyweight title once again.

After their first meeting ended in a controversial draw back almost three years ago, the pair met again in February last year, when Fury produced a dominant performance to end Wilder’s five-year championship reign and tonight the Brit will put the belt on the line and look to cement his authority over the rivalry.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ was dropped twice before being stopped emphatically in the seventh round of that one-sided rematch, with his opponent switching up his tactics to devastating effect after somehow bouncing back from two heavy knockdowns to claim a dramatic split-decision draw in Los Angeles in December 2018.

Fury had moved his attentions on to a potential lucrative pair of all-British unification showdowns with Anthony Joshua - who has since lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk- after Covid forced a third fight in 2020 to be delayed, only for an arbitration to rule that he must face Wilder again in a contractually guaranteed third contest this year.

The bout was then scheduled for July 24, only to be pushed back until October after Fury tested positive for Covid-19.

Neither man has fought since that rematch in early 2020 and the heated rivalry has continued to simmer, with one-punch knockout artist Wilder still spouting various conspiracy theories as he looks to recover from his only professional loss to date.

Fury, meanwhile, has warned that Wilder - now trained by former opponent and sparring partner Malik Scott - is an "atomic bomb" and “the most dangerous heavyweight” around as he looks to end this chapter for good, continue his title reign and stay unbeaten.

The chief support for Saturday’s main event comes with another trio of intriguing heavyweight contests as undefeated Cuban star Frank Sanchez battles fellow big puncher Efe Ajagba and Adam Kownacki and Robert Helenius square off in a rematch following the latter’s shock knockout in New York in March 2020.

Heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson takes on Russian Vladimir Tereshkin in the first fight on the main show, with plenty more action kicking off the night on the early undercard.

Fury vs Wilder 3 date, start time, venue and ring walks

Fury vs Wilder 3 takes place tonight, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada - the same venue as the second fight.

It will obviously be another very late one for British boxing fans, with the ring walks for the main event expected no earlier than 4am BST on Sunday morning.

It seems likely to be closer to 4:30am, but as ever these timings are subject to change and the length of the undercard contests.

Fury vs Wilder 3 fight prediction

Fury is obviously the favourite here given how fight number two panned out, with the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ producing the kind of powerful, punishing and relentless display that many didn’t think him capable.

Wilder was simply unable to cope with such an onslaught and had no chance whatsoever to unleash that devastating one-punch knockout power, without which his skill-set seems very limited at best.

The worry for Wilder is that he has now faced two versions of Fury - both the slick, skilled and evasive Fury and the aggressive, dominant version - and not managed to beat either, with many still feeling that Fury actually also won the first fight despite those two big knockdowns.

So from that perspective it’s tough to see how he can win this trilogy bout without massive improvements, though, as much as a cliche as this sounds when discussing his career, you just cannot legislate for that sledgehammer of a right hand, which he can use to win any fight at any moment regardless of how he has been performing up until that point.

Much could depend on which version of Fury turns up, though it would seem foolish to reverse that aggressive gameplan after he delivered it to perfection last time out - and an extra 20lbs added during training would suggest that will indeed be the way to go.

We think Wilder will likely avoid another knockout, but Fury should be canny enough to avoid that explosive right and win comfortably on points.

Fury vs Wilder 3 weigh-in results

Both Fury and Wilder will be at their career-heaviest on Saturday night.

Fury tipped the scales at 277lbs, four pounds heavier than the rematch but some way shy of the 290/300lbs it had been suggested by his camp that he could reach.

Wilder, meanwhile, went up from 231lbs to 238lbs and has clearly packed on the muscle in an attempt to win back the WBC belt.

“It means total obliteration of a dosser,” Fury said of his weight at a heated final showdown on Friday.

“Total annihilation. I’m going to put him in the Royal Infirmary after this fight, don’t worry about that.”
