Beau the pampered pooch hates getting wet so much he insists on being chaperoned with an umbrella during wet weather.

The nine-year-old crossbreed has been at the Dogs Trust in Merseyside since 2010, earning him the unfortunate label as one of their unluckiest dogs.

But despite his aversion to rain, carers at the Dogs Trust insist he is a lovely dog and is one of the happiest they have ever cared for.

Aimee Best, from Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Beau is such an energetic and happy dog, which makes his aversion to wet weather even more noticeable.

"He is always delighted to see his carers and runs over to greet us, wagging his tail - but if it starts to look like rain he prefers to retreat to his bed and waits for it to pass.

"It may seem a bit silly that we carry an umbrella for him but we all absolutely adore him so we don't really mind as long as it keeps him happy."
