Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke talks about lesbian alliance with Yara Greyjoy

Episode 9 of this season’s ‘Game of Thrones’ presented us with a number of truly awesome moments, including Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) meeting Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan). Now, ‘Me Before You’ star Clarke has teased us by hinting there might be something about to go down between the powerful pair.

During official behind-the-scenes interviews with Clarke and Whelan, both women who play powerfully ruthless, yet likeable characters in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world speak freely about how they’d like the two to get along in the HBO show.

“Daeneys and Yara quite like the cut of each other’s jib,” says Whelan, who describes their new relationship as an “entente cordiale,” which basically means they’ve a friendly, respectful understanding for one another.

“There’s, like, a little kind of ‘Ah there’s another badass chick in the place, okay!’” quips Emilia Clarke, who notes that the Mother of Dragons has finally begun to meet new people who are a lot like her (especially where Yara is concerned) and from lands far off.

“There’s mild flirtation which is exciting to say the least - I mean, get rid of Daario, bring on the ladies, why not?” Clarke goes on to say. It’s obviously an off-the-cuff joke during the interview, but in truth there’s absolutely no reason why the two can’t conceivably get together romantically.

- Has Game of Thrones introduced a new heir to the throne?

Let’s face it, over the course of six seasons we’ve seen all sorts of debauchery, with more than our fair share of sexual relations - including incest, as well as straight and gay - so why not here too? There’d likely be many fans out there (not just the perverts amongst us) who’d relish such an alliance, but it’d certainly change the power dynamic somewhat in regards to Daenerys being the intended sole ruler.
