This Game of Thrones pen costs £44,000

Luke Abrahams

The final season of Game of Thrones is upon us. On April 14, the hit fantasy epic will air on HBO for six glorious episodes of fire, blood, gore, battle and probably lots of sex - that's why we all love it remember.

As everyone goes mad with all the hype, the shops are taking their positions to exploit and conquer all your hard earned cash. So much in fact that luxury Italian fountain pen house Motegrappa has made a special limited edition pen that costs...wait for it... £44,435.

You can close your mouth now.

So why is it so spenny? Well, it's 18k gold for a start. Enriched with all sorts of black and white celluloid details, the intricate piece of penmanship (technically it's art) aptly called The Iron Throne is decorated with some of Westeros's most famous emblems.

On the cap you will find a royal crown with swords, topped off with a genuine glittering ruby.

The body is engraved with all the House Sigils found in the show (House Targaryen, House Stark, House Lannister, House Baratheon, House Tyrell and so on) along with some of its most notable fantasy creatures - dragons and wolves, mostly. But it's the nib that really steals the show.

At 18k gold, the glistening thing is finished off with a stunning re-imagination of the Iron Throne. V. fancy.

Seven of the pens are available here to order via the Montegrappa website, which is known throughout the world for its luxury roster of products that include everything from some of the finest Italian watches, cufflinks, fragrances, accessories and collectibles.

But if that's a little bit out of your price range, you can get a stirling silver version from as little as 3,900. Hey, it's cheaper than 44k.

And for £240 you can get one from Harrods made by exactly the same company.
