Game of Thrones season 8: Site of one of season 7's best scenes to return

As the excruciating wait for Game of Thrones’ eighth season continues, fans are latching onto any information they can.

The latest snippet details how one of season seven’s major locations will return at some stage during the final batch of episodes.

Game of Thrones fans will likely remember the concluding episode of season seven — featuring Jon Snow, Cersei, Daenerys Targaryen and a whole host of other fan favourites meeting at the Dragonpit.

Spanish outlet Los Siete Reinos, via the prolific fansite Watchers on the Wall, reports that the Seville’s Heritage Commission approved Itálica’s amphitheater — near present-day Santiponce, Seville, Spain — for filming in the coming months for season eight. That Roman amphitheater, based in the ruins of Itálica, served as the location of the Dragonpit last season.

The publication notes that the shoot will use the arena and central pit, a platform once again being constructed over the pit. When the cast and crew will return to Spain for the shoot remains unknown. Meanwhile, Game of Thrones will touch down early next year, with Iain Glen teasing a "rather brilliant" finale to come.
