Yahoo News Game of Thrones unlikely to get more than one spin-off
Now that Game of Thrones has wrapped up, all eyes are on how HBO is going to capitalise on this insanely popular culture phenomenon. We live in the age of the spin-off, after all.
We already know that a prequel series starring Naomi Watts is in the works, while George RR Martin has previously said that three "successor shows" are in development at the broadcaster.
But now HBO's boss Casey Bloys has seemingly ruled out doing more than the one spin-off, telling Deadline: "We have the pilot starting in June and then we will decide whether to want to do another one or not. I’m letting those things happen before we decide whether to do another one or not."
When pressed about answer, Bloys said: "I doubt it, I don’t think so. I certainly do not want to overdo it.
"We have so many varied shows coming up in 2019 and ’20 and even into ’21. I think Game of Thrones is a fantastic property but I don’t want to just be the home of prequels and sequels and all that stuff. I think you want to be really careful about how you do it.

"That’s why we’ve been working on the Jane pilot for a long time, because we want to do it right. I think the last thing fans would want is something that was rushed out just to make it to air."
While his comments seem mostly against more prequels or spin-offs, he has more explicitly stated that there won't be any sequel shows focusing on what the characters did next.
Game of Thrones aired on HBO in the US, and you can also catch up on the show via Hulu. Viewers in the UK can catch up via Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
