June is the perfect time to get your garden in shape for the rest of the summer months.

With the weather heating up, many people are keen to ensure their outdoor spaces are blooming with well-hydrated plants.

Michael, who shares gardening tips on TikTok under the handle @themediterraneangardener, has offered some advice on what tasks you should be tackling to keep your garden looking its best this month.

Firstly, he suggests you "tie in the new stems of climbing and rambling roses horizontally to encourage more flowers".

He also mentions that now is the "perfect time" to take "softwood cuttings from plants like hydrangeas which will root fast".

Continuing to plant summer bedding plants in pots and borders is another tip, and Michael advises that you "pinch out the tips to encourage bushier growth".

For those with container displays and hanging baskets, it's recommended to give them a "liquid feed every few weeks" to "encourage flowering".

If you're lucky enough to have citrus trees, Michael suggests you "move [them] outside now the temperatures have warmed up", and don't forget to "prune your olive trees to encourage new growth".

In this warm weather, plants need watering daily, ideally "in the early morning or evening" to prevent scorching. And remember - it's best to water plants at their base, not over the top.

Michael also reminds us to take care of our houseplants, as they require "watering more regularly" in warmer weather. "While you're there, give the leaves a wipe down to improve their health," he advised.

In another clip, Michael shared a tip for supermarket-bought herbs. He suggested splitting the soil and planting them into separate containers, which he claimed would boost their health. "You can do this with basil, parsley, coriander, mint and chives to name just a few," he added.
