'It has garnered incredible support' - Walkers urged to join annual Chilterns event

Buckinghamshire residents are being encouraged to participate in this year’s Chilterns 3 Peak Challenge to celebrate the task’s 15th anniversary.

The event is in aid of the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, with participants challenged to raise £225 each by getting fifteen people to sponsor them £15.00 each.

This amount could fund six hours of hospice nursing care in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

The walking event offers three alternative routes with six-and-a-half, 10 and 18-mile options available.

The challenge is open to everyone, including dogs.

Laura Elliott, Head of Supporter Fundraising at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, says: "The Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge has become a beloved event in the community.

“This year, we are celebrating its 15th anniversary.

“Over the years, it has garnered incredible support from local people.

"All funds raised by the event are used to provide vital patient care in our community.

“We want to make this year's event the most successful and memorable yet - allowing us to support even more people across Buckinghamshire.

“To achieve this, we need the continued support of our local communities.

"Whether you have a personal connection to the cause or are looking for a physical challenge, this event is perfect for you.

“Every year, we see people walking with family, friends, colleagues, and even their four-legged companions.

“So, gather a group, sign up, and be part of an amazing effort to raise vital funds and support care for local people with life-limiting illnesses."

All three routes commence at Princes Risborough School.

The trail is not circular so at the end of miles six and a half and 18, buses will take walkers back to the start.

For the 10-mile route, the bus will move walkers onto Tring Railway Station to complete the final part of the challenge on foot.

Walkers will then get on the bus at the finish line at Ivinghoe Beacon to take them back to Princes Risborough School.

All participants will receive an event t-shirt and medal to celebrate their amazing achievement and walkers who raise £225 or more will receive a free water bottle.

The walk will take place on September 8.

Chiltern 3 Peaks participant information:

• On the day registration fee is priced at £18 for adults, £12 for children, and £55 for a family ticket (based on two adults and two children).

• The Chiltern 3 Peaks is open to all ages and abilities. The route is not buggy-friendly, or wheelchair friendly due to the terrain.

• Toilet and water stops are provided at regular intervals throughout the course.

• Any walker under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian aged 18 or older on the day. Dogs are welcome.
