Burglars raided Gary Barlow’s mansion while he was away for the weekend filming with Take That for Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

The singer’s £6 million country home was broken into the day after the band performed on the penultimate episode of the show’s latest series.

Barlow, 53, lives in the property with his wife, Dawn, also 53, and their children, Daniel, Emily, and Daisy.

It is not known whether any of the family were at home at the time of the burglary, which is believed to have taken place on April 7.

Barlow is said to have been unaware of the break-in until the next day.

Crime scene investigators were seen taking photographs of Barlow’s Grade II listed home in the days after the incident.

Neighbours said the front gate of his property appeared to have been broken and officers were seen examining the damage.

One neighbour told The Sun that police knocked on his door to ask about the burglary, which was believed to have taken place in the early hours of the morning.

He added: “There have been other burglaries we’ve heard about in the area within the last year or so.

“There are a few big houses and Mr Barlow’s is one of them.

“Police always need to do more. It would make everybody feel more reassured here if there were a larger presence, but like everything else in life, it is all funding-related.”

‘Lovely neighbour’

Other locals described Barlow as a “lovely neighbour” and said they were shocked to learn of the break-in.

On the weekend of the burglary, Barlow and his Take That bandmates, Mark Owen, 52, and Howard Donald, 56, performed Shine, their 2007 No 1 single, on ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Barlow purchased his country mansion in 2007 for £2.3 million. He agreed with conservationists to install a bat box in 2020 and in exchange he was allowed to build a garage for his cars.

Plans to build a second six-bed home in the garden were rejected in 2019. Barlow was told by council planners that the proposed property would be out of keeping with the area.

Barlow’s representatives have been contacted for comment.

A police spokesman told The Sun: “We received reports of a burglary between 5.50pm on April 7 and 9am on April 8. Officers are investigating the incident.”
