The Gathering on Channel 4: What it's about, how many episodes, who's in the cast and where you've seen them before
A new TV thriller from the producers of the hit BBC police procedural Line Of Duty is coming to screens this week. The Gathering, on Channel 4, promises to shock and intrigue across its six episodes, starting tonight (Tuesday) at 9pm.
The series centres around a violent attack on a teenage girl during a rave on a tidal islet. Set on Merseyside, the drama focuses on a group of teens from disparate backgrounds, each of whom could have committed the crime, along with their parents - who give equal cause for suspicion.
As well as Line of Duty, The Gathering's production company World Productions - part of ITV Studios - also worked on Save Me and Vigil. Here's all you need to know about your new TV obsession.

What is The Gathering about?
Set in Merseyside, The Gatherine follows the events of a violent attack during a rave on a tidal islet. The victim, a teenage girl called Kelly, straddles two very different worlds of teens portrayed in the series.
Kelly is an accomplished tumbling gymnast, well on the pathway to Team GB but at odds with her teammates and their ultra-competitive parents. By contrast, Kelly also rolls with a group of urban free-runners, whose reckless lifestyle and exuberant free-spirit are at odds with the discipline and restrictions Kelly experiences in the tightly controlled world of competitive sport.
The Gathering examines the intertwined sex lives, loyalties and rivalries of a group of teens. It asks how they can negotiate their sense of identity and freedom in the face of surveillance parenting.
How many episodes are there in The Gathering?
The full boxset of six episodes will be available to stream tonight (May 14) from midnight. If you're watching it on Channel 4, the first episode is tonight at 9pm, and the second is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9pm.

Where have I seen The Gathering cast members before?
Eva Morgan is a newcomer, but you may have seen Sadie Soverall before if you watched Saltburn. Vinette Robinson appeared in BBC kitchen drama Boiling Point while Warren Brown has most recently been seen in The Responder and is known to Luther fans as the unorthodox cop's former sidekick Justin.
Richard Coyle appeared in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Sonny Walker was also in The Responder and Ryan Quarmby played Cynlaef in the fifth series of Netflix's The Last Kingdom. Newcomer Luca Kamleh-Chapman plays Bazi.
Anything else to know about The Gathering?
The Gathering is ultimately a whodunnit – or, in this case – a-why-done it. Focusing on a group of disparate teenagers and their parents, each character has a motive for attacking Kelly.
Each episode privileges a different character’s lens to give insight into the respective worlds of these teenagers and their families and allows the viewer to speculate who committed the crime.
The Gathering starts tonight (Tuesday, May 14) on Channel 4 at 9pm
