Newcastle United will have a lot of paperwork to sort out tonight as the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) deadline looms. Eddie Howe's side are already facilitating two reluctant sales in the forms of Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton and they may not be finished.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have both been linked with moves to Premier League rivals in the past few days, while long-term interest in Callum Wilson, Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier from the Saudi Pro League could also take form. It comes as the Magpies believe they're under significant risk at catching a points deduction if they fail to balance their books in time ahead of this evening's deadline.

The moves for Anderson and Minteh are set to bring in a boost of around £65m towards that goal, but how much is needed is currently unclear meaning heavy links to some of the club's key assets will continue to hold interest in driving a hard bargain until the end of the day.

However, it doesn't rule out the Magpies making moves for the rest of the summer after this point and one name they've been quickly linked with is U.S youth international goalkeeper Gavin Beavers. Newcastle have often found it difficult to find a consistent shot-stopper but since Nick Pope's arrival in 2022, they've enjoyed relative comfort between the sticks.

But a shock shoulder injury last season relegated the 32-year-old to the sidelines, exposing the lack of depth the side had in that position with Martin Dubravka failing to impress, keeping just eight clean sheets in his 30 appearances across all competitions. Now it appears as though despite financial pressures, the Magpies could be lining up their latest recruit in the form of Beavers so here's all you need to know about the young star...

The 19-year-old started his career at the Real Salt Lake academy and signed with Real Monarchs, Real Salt Lake's USL Championship affiliate in the summer of 2021. There, he made his debut in June of that year at the age of 16, making him the youngest goalkeeper to ever play in a USL Championship game.

After signing his first professional contract with the Monarchs in September, he moved down to the third tier of U.S football, the MLS Next Pro, where he made 18 appearances for the Monarchs over the next two seasons before being brought up into the Real Salt Lake senior squad.

Currently the second choice behind Salt Lake shot-stopper Zac MacMath, Beavers has already made five MLS starts this season, helping his team to win four of those games while keeping two clean sheets in the process, one in a 4-0 win over Chicago Fire with the other coming in a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders.

He made his international debut for the U.S Under-19s side back in 2023 when he helped his side overcome Argentina's Under-17s in a 3-1 win, before playing 45 minutes in a 3-2 win over England's Under-19s last summer. Earlier this month, he made his third appearance for his country, this time in a 1-0 win over Argentina's Under-19s in which he played 60 minutes.
