Fans of hit sitcom Gavin and Stacey will no doubt remember baby Neil from the show, who has now just turned 10-years-old.

It’s hard to believe that the popular comedy was on our screens a decade ago, as people struggled to come to terms with the once baby now a fully-grown child.

BBC Three tweeted out a throwback to the programme, where Nessa (played by Ruth Jones) gave birth to baby Neil.

‘FYI baby Neil from Gavin and Stacey is now a 10-year-old,’ the tweet read.

Nessa and Smithy (played by James Corden), were the proud parents of little Neil who went on to make cameos throughout series 3 of the show.

The tweet then promoted Neil’s real-life mum, Emily, to respond and share a photo of a now 10-year-old Neil.

‘This is Xmas Special baby Neil! 10 last Sunday!’ she tweeted back, showing fans that only recalled him as a baby having shot up.

Amazingly, the channel didn’t know who Emily was, asking: ‘no way! Do you know the real baby Neil Emily??’

To which she brilliantly replied: ‘Yes I’m his mum!’

Corden, who now lives in America and presents The Late Late Show, also shared his shock at the revelation that baby Neil was in fact no longer a baby.

‘Holy s**t’ he captioned it, much to the amusement of his 10 million followers.

In fact, Jones – who also created the show – was talking to Lorraine Kelly about what she thought fictional character Neil would be up to nowadays. ‘James and I were talking about this the other day, she revealed on Lorraine earlier in the month. ‘I was saying that baby Neil, who is now probably about 11, Nessa’s training him down the slots.

‘She’s training him in the art of the dodgy grabber machine and all that kinda thing, and how to weigh the two pences.’

Gavin and Stacey aired between 2008 and 2010, spanning three series. Along the way, it won consecutive British Comedy Awards as well as two BAFTAs that included a win for James Corden for Best Comedy Performance.
