Emmerdale actress Gaynor Faye has revealed she gave herself “a bit of whiplash” while filming a vehicular stunt for the show – despite the fact she wasn’t behind the wheel for the crash.

The 47-year-old said she thinks “there’s nothing worse than a bad stunt” and was keen to make the accident look as real as possible.

Faye’s character, Megan Macey, will be involved in a smash in the village in scenes due to air as part of an upcoming storyline.

Megan crashes her car while driving with her daughter, Eliza, and sending a text message to her partner, Frank.

Faye told The Sun that filming the crash was “fine” for her, as she let a stunt performer execute the accident, but it was in shooting the aftermath that she managed to hurt herself.

She added: “I just had to sit in front of a green screen and kind of go through the motions of the crash. I still gave myself a bit of whiplash though.

“I always just go for it because I always think there’s nothing worse than a bad stunt, or it looking like they haven’t actually hit something.”

She stated she “would’ve loved” to perform the stunt herself, but said she was needed for additional scenes afterwards.
