GBBO’s Paul Hollywood As New Top Gear Host?

GBBO judge Paul Hollywood has revealed he will be doing ‘more car programmes’ soon, sparking speculation that he’ll replace Chris Evans as a host of Top Gear.

We have only just met the 12 hopefuls, who are set to compete in the new series of The Great British Bake Off, but Paul is already thinking about the future – and it looks like he might be swapping cakes for cars!

Speaking with Now, the self-confessed motor enthusiast revealed: “I’m going to be doing more car programmes.”

His co-host, Mary Berry, then added: “I love doing shows that aren’t to do with baking. Paul has his cars and city breaks, but I’m not interested in travel.”

Paul is certainly no stranger to life in the fast lane – the blue-eyed baker launched his racing career at Silverstone in 2015, driving against pros in his beloved Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Whether riding a motorbike, or driving his highly coveted Aston Martin DBS Volante, Paul is passionate about motors and presented an hour-long documentary about the history of Aston Martin for BBC Two in the same year.

Discussing the programme at the time, the adrenaline junkie explained: “I got to drive some of the most iconic Aston Martins around the world. I ended up driving some of the best cars they’ve ever produced.”

It sounds like petrol head Paul, 50, could be the perfect candidate to replace Chris, 50, who quit Top Gear after just one season – but celebrity chef James Martin has also emerged as a hot contender for the BBC rescue task.
