Strictly Come Dancing favourites Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez are setting their sights on a sunny Spanish retreat as they plan to purchase a "home from home" in Spain.

Gorka, 33, is taking on a new role as a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly, which means more time in Madrid, prompting the need for a summer base.

The couple, who now have two children, Mia, four, and baby Thiago, born last July, are finding ways to balance their growing family with their busy careers, reports the Mirror.

Gemma, 39, shared her thoughts: "We want to get somewhere so that we always have a home from home. It would be nice to have somewhere that I can just take them with my family. It would help me with mine and their Spanish, and Gorka's parents could drive down. It's something we're hoping to do by the end of this year. We love Spain."

The duo is also gearing up for the second series of their reality show, Life Behind The Lens, which gives an insight into their life in Manchester post-Thiago's arrival.

The show will capture Gorka's commute between Manchester and Madrid every weekend and his return to speaking Spanish after several years in the UK.

When asked about managing their busy lives, Gemma remarked: "I think we're doing alright. Everyone said twice the stress, twice the exhaustion, but it's also twice the love and the lovely chaos."

The couple first connected on Strictly in 2017 when Gemma was competing, and later danced together in the 2019 Christmas special.

Despite often being apart due to work, they've maintained a strong bond throughout their six-year relationship.

Gemma, who has recently returned to her role as a host on Hits Radio, shared: "It's just an understanding and we both know what the other person likes.

"We're asked if we have date nights but we love being at home. The childhood punishment of going to bed early becomes adult pleasures.

"A date night for us, if my sister or mum can have the kids, is to do a big shop together in peace because you can't do that with kids."
