General election in Dudley - All you need to know

The general election will be on July 4 when the nation finally decides who will run Britain for the next five years. Dudley is a new constituency created during the last round of boundary changes to even up the number of voters who elect each of the UK’s 650 members of parliament.

Its predecessor was called Dudley North and was in the hands of the Conservatives in the form of Marco Longhi, who was elected in 2019. The new constituency was created using the council wards that were in Dudley North along with the addition of Brockmoor and Pensnett which was in the now cancelled constituency of Dudley South.

Candidates standing for election in Dudley are Shakeela Bibi (Independent), Ian Flynn ( Liberal Democrats ), Aftab Hussain (Workers Party), Sonia Kumar (Labour), Marco Longhi (Conservative), Dharmanand Mortha (Independent), Zia Qari (Green Party) and Andrew Southall (Reform UK). Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm and people will need a photographic proof of ID in order to vote.
