General election results in full from Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumberland, Durham and Tyneside

Voters have had their say in polls across the North East in the the general election for 2024. 20 constituencies were electing a new MP, with many having boundaries redrawn to create new seats with newly elected Members of Parliament.

Parliamentary seats were up for grabs in Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, County Durham and Northumberland. All the results for each of the constituencies in these areas are linked below, updated as they are declared, and we have live updates, national and regional general election results and reaction here.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, 2024 and the exit poll suggested a landslide victory for Labour. Houghton and Sunderland South declared the first result, a victory for Labour's Bridget Phillipson, just after 11pm. Blyth and Ashington followed at 11.30, confirming victory for Labour's Ian Lavery.

Newcastle and parts of Northumberland are also expected to declare results before midnight. North and South Tyneside and County Durham results are due to follow in the early hours of Friday, July 5.
