'Genius' easy 65p garden hack will keep slugs away from vegetable patch

Brits will be taking to their gardens this time of year to grow flowers or even their own home-grown produce.

However, if you are growing fruit and veg this year, you might be plagued by slugs, snails and caterpillars trying to munch on your tasty treats. But one gardener has come to the rescue with a simple 65p trick to keep them away, leaving people stunned.

Social media user @bilgemehmet23 is known for sharing their lifestyle and gardening content. In the video, which has gained more than 124,000 likes, the man took a plant pot with the bottom cut off and sprinkled salt around the rim.

He explained: "I put that around here – really cheap salt, the cheapest salt you can get. And I just go round the edges like I showed this so many times guys, honestly."

The man then put the pot over the land and pushed it down into the soil. He added: "I've got it central. Give it a little push-down. There you go. Leave it. And that will protect my plant and I'll be able to water it individually.

"People laugh at me but I've had slug problems before and I just had an idea one day I said let's just try it. And it worked for us."

A woman in the background added: "If we didn't put this on, by the morning, we'd have a slug problem again." TikTok viewers were left stunned by the clip as they vowed to try it for themselves.

One user said: "I’ve used this and I thank you. GREAT ADVICE." Another added: "I've got big slug problem."

Someone else penned: "Damn, that's smart. Thanks guys," while a fourth commented: "It does work." A fifth added: "This is genius."
