The Gentlemen season 2 has been confirmed!

First came The Gentlemen movie, followed by the Netflix spin-off of the same name; set in the same world, but with an entirely different set of characters. But could the new show get a follow up series? Here's what we know about a potential The Gentlemen season two and all the news and updates available so far.

When was The Gentlemen season 2 confirmed?

Um, guys. Netflix just confirmed the second season is officially happening, and we couldn't be more excited. In a press release shared on 14th August 2024, the streaming service confirmed eight more episodes had been announced for season two:

Speaking to Deadline back in April, producer Marc Helwig revealed plans were in motion: "We have started the process…There are some writers we’ve talked to, certainly lots of discussion with Guy about what he might want to do in a second season, what things to focus on."

He added that it was an “active ongoing discussion already" when it came to "what a second season would be", adding that they hoped it coule "spawn some kind of a universe – a Guy Ritchie world."

Previously, Guy told Netflix something similar last November: "The world of The Gentlemen is a little bit of me. We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories, and I am excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast."

What is Netflix's The Gentlemen about?

As mentioned, the TV show is set in the same world as the original Hugh Grant film, but is an entirely different story with totally different characters. The eight episode show follows aristocrat Eddie (played by Theo James), who inherits the family estate after his father's death, and is shocked to discover millions of pounds worth of weed is growing on the land.

With Susie Glass at the helm (played by Kaya Scodelario), Eddie finds himself immersed in a world of criminality and gangs, while trying to get them off his family's estate.

When asked about the future for his character, Theo James (who plays Eddie) suggested there could be a lot in the pipeline. "Eddie and Susie just signed the deal with the devil and they’re about to embark on a diabolical journey,” he told Netflix "That is the beginning of his journey into the heart of darkness."

Sounds like more could definitely happen!

Who might be in The Gentlemen season 2 cast?

Well, it's unlikely we'll see any (and there were a lot of them) of the characters who were murdered during season one. But it's been confirmed three key members from The Gentlemen season one will definitely return:

  • Theo James as Eddie Halstead

  • Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass

  • Daniel Ings as Freddy Halstead

While Netflix have also shared that "additional casting news" will be announced at a later date. Fans are also hoping to see two familiar faces, too, in the shape of:

  • Vinnie Jones as Geoff Seacombe

  • Joely Richardson as Lady Sabrina

We're unlikely to see Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass again, unless it's in a minor supporting role, as the end of season one saw him selling his empire to Susie and Eddie to look after. In April 2024, a source told The Sun it was going to be tough getting the cast back together at the same time, commenting, "It’s going to be quite a challenge getting the same actors back together. But Netflix chiefs are keen for a sequel. The success of series one has already convinced them there’s huge potential for a follow-up."
