Geri Horner ‘Felt Proud’ When Adele Covered Spice Girls On James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Geri Horner has revealed that she “felt proud” after watching Adele cover Spice Girls hits on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke earlier this year.

During her appearance on the popular Late Late Show segment, the Hello hitmaker spoke about her obsession with the girl group, and then performed a fabulous rendition of their debut single Wannabe.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham praised Adele at the time, admitting that the fan-girl feelings were completely mutual, and now Geri has revealed that she, too, was overjoyed with her Spice-infused performance.

In an essay for Marie Claire, Ginger Spice wrote: “I felt so proud watching Adele on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke… saying she loved the Spice Girls.

“She connected with us, she says, because we were just five ordinary girls who ‘got out.’ It’s something that we – and many other girls, too – felt: We all wanted to get out, stand up and be heard, be counted and have a voice that mattered.

“Our message screamed it for every girl. We all felt it, and as sisters all around the world connected through our music and songs, we shared that feeling” – otherwise known as Girl Power!

Adele’s stint on Carpool Karaoke has generated over 116 million views on YouTube to become the most-watched late-night clip on the streaming site ever.

Whilst in the passenger seat of Corden’s car, Adele told the host that she was “truly heartbroken” for the first time when Geri quit the Spice Girls in 2003, citing the group’s formation as a “huge moment” in her life.

She explained: “It was girl power, and it was these five ordinary girls who did so well and got out. I was like, I want to get out. It was a really important period of my life.”

Ours, too. <3
