Germany 'knife attack': At least 14 people injured in attack on bus in Luebeck

At least 14 people have been injured in a suspected knife attack on a bus in Luebeck, north Germany.

A suspect has been arrested after the incident in the Kuecknitz district and remains in custody, police said.

Three people received "medium serious" injuries in the incident, according to reports,

State police tweeted: "Nobody was killed. The perpetrator was overpowered and is now in police custody."

Police spokesman Dierk Duerbrook said that authorities are still trying to determine the circumstances of the attack.

Earlier, police in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, where Luebeck is located, tweeted that there was a major police deployment under way in the city.

Witnesses said that passengers were seen screaming and jumping from the bus.

Eyewitness Lothar H, 87, said: "The passengers jumped out of the bus and screamed, it was terrible, and then the injured were taken away."

"One of the victims had just offered his place to an elderly woman, as the offender stabbed him in the chest," LN quoted another witness as saying.

"It was a carnage!"
