Gethin Jones has extended his best wishes to Jason Manford as the comedian is set to take over presenting duties on BBC Morning Live. The announcement revealed that 43-year-old Manford will make his first appearance on Friday, June 28.

Initially, Jason will be joining forces with Gaby Roslin, and he's scheduled to return on Wednesday, July 3 for another round of presenting, this time alongside Helen Skelton. Earlier in the week, Jason shared his excitement about the role, promising viewers a touch of "little chaos".

He said: "I'm delighted to have been asked to guest co-host Morning Live this week. I always love supporting a Manchester-based show and every time I've been on as a guest, the team have always been a real pleasure to work with. I'm looking forward to bringing a little chaos to the sofa once we go live!"

As Jason gears up for his debut, he received a message of support from his colleague, reports the Express. On Instagram, where Jason boasts a following of 395K, he posted: "Early night tonight! Guest hosting @bbcmorninglive with the wonderful @gabyroslin in the morning."

"Looking forward to the madness of live telly! Tune in tomorrow from 9.30am! ".

Gethin chimed in with encouragement, commenting on the post: "Go well J! " This prompted a grateful response from Jason: "@gethincjones cheers brother! Will keep seat warm for ya."

Gethin's Morning Live team and Jason's celebrity mates left a multitude of supportive messages along with presenter Rav Wilding, his input being: "Go well matey, see you bright and early! " while TV actor Kevin Fletcher chipped in too, with: "We'll be watching! ".

Numerous fans also wished Jason good luck, with one individual commenting: "Go get em jase, I'll be watching you," and another noting: "Don't usually watch tv in the mornings but this is definitely a reason to tune in."

Morning Live's Executive Editor, Emma Morris expressed her delight about Jason stepping up as co-host.

She raved: "We are thrilled to be welcoming Jason to the Morning Live team in the coming weeks. He is already a good friend of the show and it goes without saying he's an incredibly entertaining and experienced presenter. I just know our audience is going to love him! ".

Having been on Morning Live previously as a guest, Manford has a breadth of presenting experience including Children in Need, The National Lottery's New Year's Eve Big Bash and Unbeatable, not forgetting his work as a panellist on Have I Got News for You.

Back in 2010, Jason filled a role on The One Show, spending four months at the helm alongside Alex Jones.
