Gift shop in Chester city centre put up for sale as owner of 30 years eyes retirement

A bohemian gift shop in the heart of Chester city centre has been put on the market by its owner, who plans to retire. Fiona Chambers has engaged Blacks Business Brokers to find a new owner to take over Fifi Bambu on Watergate Street, with an asking price of £29,995 to take over the business and premises, plus annual rent of £15,500.

Ms Chambers originally established the business in 1993. She relocated from Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, to her current premises in Chester in 2020.

Fifi Bambu, which Ms Chambers plans to keep open as normal until a new owner is in place, sells a variety of gift items with a bohemian twist. It is located in the ground floor of a mid-terraced property in the heart of Chester’s historic retail district.

In its most recent financial year the business turned over £53,000, based on opening from 11am to 6pm, six days per week. All fixtures and fittings are included in the sale.

Megan Sutherst, deal executive at Blacks Business Brokers, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to take over a lovely business in a prime location in Chester.

“The location speaks for itself but there is also plenty of scope for a new owner to increase revenues with a concerted online marketing drive, by introducing new product lines, and by increasing opening hours. It’s a great business in a great part of the world, and I’m anticipating strong interest.”
