Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice's once close friendship seems to have hit a rough patch in recent times, with Giovanni determined to clear his name from recent bullying claims.

Former EastEnders star Rose made history as the first deaf contestant to clinch the Glitterball trophy in 2021 with Italian dance professional Giovanni. Throughout their time on the BBC show, they developed a strong connection, leading fans to hope for a romance to develop from their partnership.

However, following accusations from Giovanni's 2023 celebrity partner Amanda Abbington calling him "nasty", many expected Rose to defend Giovanni. Yet, she has remained silent regarding her previous dance partner while the BBC conducts its investigation into the allegations of his improper behaviour backstage.

For the past three years, both have been vocal in their admiration for each other online and have posted about their joint activities. But the current controversy surrounding Giovanni has reportedly left Rose conflicted.

Adding to the drama, it appears Giovanni has ceased engaging with Rose's Instagram content, reports the Mirror.

Rose's most recent post on social media, dated 16th May, revealed her new role in an upcoming BBC production. "I'm so excited to be joining William Mager's Reunion and to be working alongside such a talented cast, whose work I have long admired. It is a very special project and an important moment for the deaf community's representation on TV," Rose shared with her followers last month.

One of Rose's fans responded to the update, writing: "Well done Rose , Giovanni be proud of you for sure," However, Giovanni, who is usually quick to celebrate his former dance partner's achievements, has yet to react to Rose's exciting announcement.

Giovanni's 2023 celebrity partner, Amanda Abbington, 52, made a sudden exit from Strictly Come Dancing last year, citing health issues. She later revealed that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following her stint on the show and described her training sessions with Giovanni as "abrasive".

A source speaking to The Sun claimed that Rose is struggling with the negative chatter surrounding her colleague Giovanni. "Rose is finding the whole situation really tough. She had a really great experience with Gio so is really shocked by it all," they said.

"She of course believes what others are saying but she is just trying to not get involved. She won't be speaking about it publicly."

Reports have emerged suggesting Giovanni Pernice could be facing legal action from three of his former Strictly Come Dancing partners over alleged "abusive behaviour". BBC chiefs are said to have launched an internal investigation, prompting Giovanni to address the situation publicly on Instagram.

Visibly shocked by the allegations, Giovanni conveyed his astonishment and dismay at being portrayed as the antagonist.

He vehemently denied any wrongdoing, stating: "To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name."

Giovanni continued, highlighting his dedication and competitive spirit throughout his time on the show: "Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support! Giovanni."
