This girl documents her college rejections, and her positivity is inspiring: ‘rejection is redirection!!!!!’
In the wake of college admissions videos, one TikToker has impressed commenters with her positivity.
High school student and content creator Sam (@samuangussy) posted a compilation video on the digital platform in which she reads rejections from a series of colleges. What particularly stands out in the video, however, is her uplifting disposition.
“POV: Getting rejected from colleges,” she writes, as her caption reads, “Yk what they all say… rejection is redirection!!!!!”
“It said that I got denied. Mmkay, not a big deal,” she says after reading a rejection from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
As the 56-second video continues, @samyangussy also receives rejections from Grinnel College, the University of California, San Diego, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Southern California and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
“I’m literally getting rejected left and right. Holy s***,” she says at one point.

It was her positivity that impressed commenters. With the news of each rejection, she either laughed it off or still had a smile on her face.
“Atleast you handled it like a champ,” one user wrote.
“i love how you still are confident through out every rejection!” another replied.
“I admire how u can stay positive,” a TikToker responded.
In two follow-up videos, however, @samyangussy reads an acceptance letter from the University of Washington and subsequently commits to it.

“SO HAPPY FOR YOU,” another replied.

Given the amount of work high school students put into maintaining their grades, keeping up with extracurriculars and preparing their applications, any college rejection can be disappointing. Still, as Sam demonstrates, a rejection isn’t the end of the world — and it may be a sign that there’s somewhere out there that’s better for you.
