Girls Aloud's Cheryl sparks major career demand as fans 'desperate' for comeback

She once held the record for the highest number of number ones by a UK female, until being toppled by Jess Glynne and now Girls Aloud fans are in firm agreement that they want Cheryl back as a solo artist. And they've even called on some big name producers to make it happen.

Months after Girls Aloud went their separate ways for a first time in 2009 and, while she was a judge on The X Factor at its peak, Cheryl was the first member of the band to go it alone, with her debut single Fight for This Love going straight in at number 1, becoming one of the biggest hits of 2009 and going onto sell over a million copies.

The number 1s then kept on coming for the Geordie star, with Promise This, Call My Name, Crazy Stupid Love and I Don't Care also all making it to the top spot, earning her the number 1 record for a UK female. Cheryl last released solo material in 2019, with single Let You not making the top 40.

But now, having seen her on top for on Girls Aloud's The Show tour, fans want a solo resurgence for Cheryl and have appealed to producers like Calvin Harris, Joel Corry and Jax Jones to give her a killer comeback single. Since the tour kicked off in Dublin last month, countless videos of Cheryl on stage have been posted on social media and many of them have came with the same caption - she needs to be a pop star again.

Sharing a video of her singing Girls Aloud fan favourite On The Metro at one of the reunion gigs, one fan wrote: "all cheryl needs is one call my name-level banger with calvin harris and a feature on a joel corry track and she will be back on top i truly believe this" as another video came with the caption: "Oh I need solo Cheryl to return after the GA tour"

A third name checked Heart & Heart and Sorry hitmaker Joel in their post, writing: "I need a Cheryl solo career comeback. Get her on a Joel Corry track pronto"
