Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts takes 'break' from tour to visit Northumberland after Newcastle gigs

Nicola Roberts took a much needed 'break' from the Girls Aloud tour on Monday, to pay a visit to Bamburgh, after she and her bandmates played three packed out shows in Newcastle across the weekend.

Almost 22 years on from them shooting to huge fame on ITV programme Popstars The Rivals, Nicola, Cheryl, Nadine and Kimberley were back on the road with their The Show tour, which has been selling out arenas across the UK and Ireland since kicking off in Dublin on May 17.

The tour has so far taken Girls Aloud to the likes of Belfast, Manchester and Cardiff and there was no weekend off for the Brit winners, as they took to the stage at Newcastle's Utilita Arena three nights in a row, playing to a total crowd in the region of 33,000 during their stint on Tyneside.

Next on the hectic schedule for Girls Aloud is a trip to Aberdeen, with them playing P&J Live on Tuesday but, before heading up to Scotland, Nicola jumped at the chance to head to the Northumberland coast and one of its most iconic landmarks, Bamburgh Castle. The former Masked Singer winner shared of video of herself on Bamburgh beach, with the castle clearly visible in the background and captioned it: ' The best day off. This cup of tea and sea air was the best break in the tour bus/hotel room routine."

The Show tour will wrap up in Liverpool on June 30 and before then, the Sound of the Underground stars play the likes of the Hydro in Glasgow, Leeds' First Direct Arena ands London's iconic O2, where there will be taking up residence for three nights, from June 25-27.
