Gisele Bündchen is keeping the memory of her late mother Vânia Nonnenmacher alive.

On Jan. 28, Hospital Moinhos de Vento in Porto Alegre, Brazil, released a statement saying that Nonnenmacher died from cancer. She was 75.

On Tuesday, Bündchen took to social media to honor Nonnenmacher on the one month anniversary of her death.

She posted a photo to her Instagram Story of the two embracing. Bündchen, wearing a white dress, leans on her mom who smiles. A second photo, captioned with the words “Te amo” which translates to ‘I love you’ in English, captures Nonnenmacher posing with a rainbow behind her.

The supermodel, 43, broke her silence on the news with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on Jan. 30, sharing with her followers how much of a light her mom was in her life.

"Beloved mom, It hurts to know that I won’t be able to hug you anymore, but I know that you will always be watching over us. You were an angel on earth, always helping everyone around you," Bündchen wrote in both Portuguese and English of her mother, who she remembered as the “best role model of love, strength, compassion, courage, and grace."

Bündchen previously told PEOPLE last September that she had been caring for her ailing parents and it had been "tough" on her and her whole family. “I feel like whenever it rains, it pours. With all the different twists and turns that life takes, all we can do is the best we can given what happens in our surroundings.”

Yet, the mom of two has been on a journey of personal transformation, which she opened up about on Instagram with a poignant quote from Ecuadorian author Yung Pueblo.

"Letting go can sometimes feel overwhelming. Building new habits can seem like an uphill battle. Even with all of these challenges inner-work is worth it. This active form of self-love can radically change your life," she concluded, signing off the post with Pueblo's name, before translating the quote in Portuguese.

Bündchen told PEOPLE that she's relied on meditation, daily exercise (“I work out every single day,” she shared, noting a mix of walks, yoga and weights) and a dedication to wellness through nutrition to help keep her centered.
