Glasgow cyclist seriously injured in hit and run as police track down and arrest driver

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a hit and run on a Glasgow road involving a black Ford Fiesta.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Drumoyne Road, near the junction with Arngask Road, at around 6.10pm yesterday (May 1).

A 47-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The vehicle did not stop and was later traced nearby in Kennedar Drive.

A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, who were in the car, have also been traced. The driver, 21, was arrested and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “We believe there were a number of people around at the time of the crash and we are asking anyone in the area at the time who can assist with our crash investigation to get in touch.

Those with information regarding the incident are being urged to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2963 of Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
