Glasgow pensioners nightmare as 'feral kids' vandalise derelict building and hurl glass bottles

A pensioner has slammed a group of "feral kids" who have been causing a nightmare for residents on a quiet street in the Craigton area.

The youngsters are said to have taken over a derelict building in Corkerhill Gardens, smashing its windows and throwing bricks from the building out onto the pavement.

They have also been 'wrecking the hedges and using it as a trampoline', according to local resident David Williamson. The 69-year-old has even caught some of the group - who regularly plague the building - throwing glass bottles onto the road outside his house.

He fears someone could be fatally injured if a brick, hurled by the youngsters, unknowingly strikes them. Now, the pensioner has shared doorbell camera footage in the hopes of warning residents not to engage with them.

David said: "Previously, the kids have been wrecking the building. The problem now is that they’ve moved onto the surrounding area and it’s nearly all pensioners who live in the area.

"More recently, one of the kids decided to throw a bottle at the car which is seen in the video. They threw it in the air and smashed it in the street in front of my house.

"If they damage that car, it’s a pensioner who has no means of getting about. A pensioner in one of the flats tried to stop them and they started giving grief and throwing stuff at them.

"It makes me angry and others feel threatened about it. We are not talking nuisance kids, they are feral kids."

They have also been caught on camera throwing glass bottles in the air onto the street.
Building windows have been smashed in.

Police Scotland is aware of the anti-social behaviour in the area and have reassured residents that they have a "zero-tolerance" approach.

David added: "Police have come into the street and the kids bolt, the police drive away.

"They come into the street like a swarm of crickets, wreak havoc and then bolt. I would say it would be very foolish to engage with these kids because you’ll end up having your windows put in.

"The bricks could hit somebody in the head and kill them, it really is a disaster waiting to happen."
