Glasgow 'warmer than Barcelona' this weekend as city braced for 24C scorcher

Glaswegians are being told to expect 'taps aff' weather this weekend as temperatures continue to soar.

The Met Office predicts the mercury could reach as high as 24C on Saturday (May 11) - making Glasgow warmer than holiday destinations like Barcelona and Magaluf.

Temperatures will continue to climb throughout the week, with 19C on Thursday and 22C on Friday, peaking at the weekend before cooling on Sunday.

According to meteorologists, Saturday will be dry, sunny and very warm. Before Sunday brings the city back to reality with the possibility of thundery showers as it cools into next week.

The taps aff map, predicts that temperatures on Friday and Saturday will reach a level where clothing should be removed to experience the full joy of the 'phenomenon rarely' event of warm weather in Glasgow.

The Met Office UK forecast reads: "The weather will continue to warm up over the next few days, with bright and sunny conditions for many.

"High pressure is set to dominate, with temperatures continuing to rise. Highs of 25°C are possible tomorrow (Friday) and could reach up to 26°C in the south on Saturday and Sunday."
