Glastonbury 2024 fans make bold Little Simz claim amid 'headline-worthy' Pyramid Stage performance

Those tuning in to watch Glastonbury Festival 2024 unfold away from Worthy Farm were quick to hail Little Simz during her Pyramid Stage performance. The British rapper was among those performing on the main stage at the huge music event on Saturday (June 29).

Little Simz, real name Simbiatu Ajikawo, scooped the 2022 Mercury Prize with the studio album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and that same year she was named Best New Artist at the Brit Awards.

Dressed in a leather jacket emblazoned with Little Simz and a long skirt, the rapper of the same name began by performing her song Silhouette while strutting around the stage. She also did renditions of No Merci, and later told the Pyramid Stage crowd that they “should understand that you are witnessing greatness”.

Little Simz added: "I don’t say that with arrogance, I say that with confidence, confidence in my self-worth and my self-value, you know. It took me a while to get to the Pyramid (stage), but finally, I’m here, and if I’m great that means you’re great.

"Because we all want people, one source, experiencing something so magical this evening, it’s such an honour to have you here. And all I have on my agenda is my heart’s on fire." She then gave a fluid rendition of the track Heart On Fire.

Those watching the action unfold on the BBC, meanwhile, were soon left making a bold claim about the star. @clashfinder said: "Calling it now: Little Simz is the best rapper to grace the Pyramid. Just a phenomenal talent." @fura410 commented: "Is Little Simz one of the best things that has ever happened on the Pyramid stage ?? YES! #Glastonbury2024."

@devs1875 wrote: "Little Simz owning Glastonbury for the second year running. A generational talent who's going to be a megastar." @stxn_h added: "Little simz fully going down as one of the goats of british rap, absolutely class every single time. cant wait to see her headline at some point."

But some think she should already be heading, with the honour going to Coldplay on Saturday night instead. @davmacrun said: "@LittleSimz should be headlining the Pyramid - her show at Ally Pally was incredible #Glastonbury2024." @islingtonnyc added: "Volcanic set. #LittleSimz should be headlining the Pyramid Stage next year. What a stunning, electrifying live performance. #Glastonbury2024."
