The iconic Glastonbury Festival 2024 sees its gates swing open, welcoming fans to a five-day cultural jamboree. Emily Eavis, festival organiser, energetically unravelled the emerald gates of Worthy Farm to the tunes of a lively brass band.

She then orchestrated a euphoric countdown with eager festival-goers before they charged onto the fields, vying for the most enviable camping spots.

According to the Met Office, attendees can anticipate a "mostly warm, dry and settled" climate across the five days, although there's a possibility of intermittent showers from the outset, potentially persisting throughout the weekend.

A stellar lineup is on the bill for this year's bash, featuring international sensation Dua Lipa, rock icons Coldplay, and American soul artist SZA, while Shania Twain, the Canadian country star, claims the treasured Legends slot.

Glastonbury 2024, running from Wednesday to Sunday, also boasts eclectic life-enriching experiences ranging from thought-provoking speeches, film viewings and engaging Q&As to spectacular circus acts, laughter-inducing comedy and more.

A sprinkle of mystery shrouds the line-up, with various "TBA" gaps, including a 6pm slot on Saturday at the Woodsies stage. In times past, heavyweights such as Foo Fighters, The Killers, and Radiohead have pulled off surprise sets in these covert slots.

Glastonbury will also hold a poignant homage to trailblazer DJ Annie Nightingale Radio 1's first female voice who passed away this January aged 83. A dual-stage celebration of her legacy is planned for June 27, kicking off with daytime festivities on The Glade stage featuring acts like King Of The Beats and Paper Dragon, before transitioning to an evening tribute at the BBC Introducing stage.

As per the Met Office advice, attendees might enjoy a weekend that's "largely dry and cloudy", albeit peppered with possible showers

Those planning to attend should mark their calendars for June 26-30, when the event unfolds over Worthy Farm's 900 acres in Somerset.
