Gloucester film director duo launch independent movie festival in the city

Two film makers from Gloucestershire decided they are going bring others from the industry together for the first ever Gloucester Independent Film Festival. The event takes place at Gloucester Guildhall on Saturday October 5 and aims to attract local and international film makers for red carpet premieres and networking opportunities.

Film makers and directors, Oscar Wenman-Hyde, 27, and Joshy Lee, 29, are both from Gloucester, and the duo behind the festival. Both also hope the event will help to provide beneficial career progression for those looking to work within the independent film industry and beyond.

Oscar said: “Gloucester has a vast history of high end film and television productions taking place in the area, including, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Doctor Who. However, we know first hand the amount of local talent that in the city and we plan to highlight and celebrate the creatives in our community.”

Joshy, is the director behind Gloucester based film, ‘Boy in the Corner’. He knows first hand the importance of supporting local film makers and he hopes to help guide the next generation towards success.

Over the coming months, film makers from Gloucester and the rest of the world can submit their film or screenplay by visiting www.gloucesterfilmfestival.com for consideration. The curators of GIFF encourage the community to roll camera, connect and engage with the magic of the movies.
