Police have issued an urgent appeal for a vulnerable man who has gone missing from his home in Gloucester.

Officers are searching for a man named Richard, who was last seen in the Horton Road area of the city at around 2.40pm on Thursday, June 20.

Now, 48 hours on, police said that enquiries are ongoing to locate him, but they are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare. They said that because of his vulnerabilities, he may not realise people are trying to help him - so anyone who sees him should contact 999 and report a sighting instead of approaching him direct.

The 55-year-old is described as being tall, around 6ft 1ins tall, of average build, clean shaven and with short, black hair. He is known to frequent Longlevens, Hucclecote, Quedgeley and Barnwood. When he was last seen, he was wearing a grey jumper, blue trousers and brown leather shoes.

"There are concerns for his welfare," said a spokesperson for Gloucestershire police. "Enquiries are ongoing to locate Richard, and officers are asking for information from the public to help with the search.

"Due to his vulnerabilities, Richard may not realise people are trying to help him and his behaviour may be unpredictable, therefore police have asked for anyone who sees him not to approach him, but to call 999 instead.

"Officers are asking anyone who may have seen Richard or may have any information on his current whereabouts, to call police on 101 and quote incident 534 of 20 June," she added.
