Gloucester Rugby confirm the departure of injury-prone Adam Hastings

Gloucester Rugby have confirmed that Scotland international fly-half Adam Hastings will leave the club in the summer to re-join United Rugby Championship side, Glasgow Warriors.

Hastings, who has won 27 caps for Scotland, leaves Kingsholm having made just 40 appearances for the club over an injury-wrecked three years having arrived from Glasgow in 2021 as Danny Cipriani's replacement.

The 27-year-old, who is the son of former Scotland captain Gavin Hastings, was raised in Edinburgh, before moving South to attend Millfield School in Somerset, where he was picked up by Bath Rugby’s academy. He made 12 appearances for the Blue, Black and Whites, before returning to Scotland to join Glasgow in 2017 who he will now rejoin.

Gloucester, director of rugby George Skivington, said: We’re extremely grateful to Adam for everything he’s given to the club in his time here. He’s a very talented rugby player and has contributed to some of our best moments over the last few seasons.

“The move back to Scotland offers Adam a great chance to put his injury trouble behind him and get a run of games for his new club, with the potential to put him back in international contention. We wish him every success and thank him for his contribution to the Cherry and White jersey.

“Adam will clearly be missed, but we’re looking forward to Gareth Anscombe joining up with us next year to complement our existing fly-halves.”

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith added: “Adam’s addition to the squad continues to build our strength in depth ahead of next season. It’s great to welcome a former Warrior back into our environment, and his experience from other rugby environments will make him a real asset going forward.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how he can add value to our group as we develop as a squad.”
