Gloucester Rugby name 35-man senior squad for 2024/25 season

Gloucester Rugby have confirmed a slimed down 35-player squad for the 2024/25 season with the club leaning on talent produced by the academy to make up the numbers.

The Cherry and Whites have promoted forwards Seb Blake, Arthur Clark, Freddie Thomas and Harry Taylor and backs Louis Hillman-Cooper and Jake Morris into the senior squad from the academy, and have listed just three senior wingers with director of rugby George Skivington set to utlise senior academy stars like Josh Hathaway who was named on the wing for Wales this weekend.

The Cherry and Whites have made just four new senior signing for the squad for next season, adding Welsh international halfback duo Tomos Williams and Gareth Anscombe, winger Christian Wade and powerful tighthead prop Alfie Petch.

Five players have been added to the Senior Academy, with Caio James and Olly Allport stepping up from last season's U18s side. Deian Gwynne, a student at Hartpury, joins from the Scarlets and George Alexander and George Knowles have arrived from Midlands Central and Midlands West respectively.

In addition to the mid-season departures of Louis Rees-Zammit and Mark Atkinson (retirement), a further eleven players have left the club this summer: Fraser Balmain, Santiago Socino, Harry Elrington, Alex Seville, Rob Nixon, Jonny May, Adam Hastings, Lloyd Evans, Alex Hearle, Will Gilderson and Reece Dunn the backs who have departed.
