Gogglebox fans turn Channel 4 show off within minutes after being left 'gutted'

For many TV fans, Gogglebox's 9pm slot on a Friday signals the perfect start to the weekend. The hit Channel 4 show has entertained viewers since it first began back in 2013 with its simple yet captivating format - watching normal people watch TV.

The 21st series of Gogglebox wrapped up on May 24, with fan favourites taking to social media to express their gratitude to viewers for watching over the past few months. Dave and Shirley Griffiths posted a farewell video last week, promising a return in September.

However, Gogglebox fans were treated to an unexpected "new" episode on May 31. This special edition showcased "the best moments and best shows from the latest series".

But unaware it wasn't a normal episode, several fans voiced their disappointment on X - the platform formerly known as Twitter, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Zai expressed confusion: "Why is this a repeat????", as Shaza was frustrated: "Ffs it's a repeat", while Chris criticised: "Passing off a 'highlights' as a 'new' episode."

Sarah shared her letdown: "The disappointment when it's just a best bits episode"," as Angie also chimed in: "Switched #Gogglebox off because it's a roundup episode. Gutted".

@ZSeymour86 asked: "Why is this a repeat??? It should be new, you have no excuse #Gogglebox had good TV this week," as @VictoriaMuzz echoed: "#Gogglebox Is this a repeat? Pretty sure they haven't watched The Apprentice this week."

But there's good news for fans as Celebrity Gogglebox is set to take over the slot on Channel 4 starting from Friday, May 7.
