Yahoo News Gogglebox's Malone family heartbroken over dog's death
The TV favourites have bid a sad farewell to one member of the family.
Gogglebox favourites the Malone family have shared their heartbreak at the death of their beloved dog, Dave, saying: "There are no words."
The Channel 4 stars are often seen settling down to watch the week's TV highlights with their family pets, but mum Julie has posted on Instagram to say a sad farewell to their dog.
She posted a video of Dave sitting out on their driveway in front of their house which will be familiar to Gogglebox viewers, and wrote: "RIP Dave xxx There are no words to describe you ,or how much you meant to us. This was you on Sunday waiting for your Dad to come back and he had only gone out to the car x We are all going to miss you so much."
The Malones' Gogglebox co-star Izzi Warner offered her condolences, writing: "Awww rest in peace Dave sending you all lots of love xx"
Their dogs are as much a part of the family as parents Julie and Tom and their children Tom Jnr, Shaun and Vanessa, who shared their devastation at losing another dog, Lucy, in 2022.
There was an outpouring of sympathy for the family, with viewers commenting on the post to share how much they would miss Dave the dog.
One person wrote: "Oh no, sorry to hear this. Dave was as much of a star of gogglebox as anyone."
Another fan added: "Oh no so sorry for all the family and he will be missed attacking Tom and barking at the animal programmes xx RIP Dave the legend xx"
Others added: "So sorry for your loss, he was always my favourite on Gogglebox. RIP Dave, on your final journey over Rainbow Bridge."
"Oh no we look forward to seeing Dave x his love for you was special you’ll be missed Dave gogglebox won’t be the same x."
"Noooooo not Dave!!!!! He was the best on Gogglebox. Heartbroken is an understatement."
Rottweiler Dave had also found fame on TikTok as well as on the TV review show after a clip of him went viral.
Viewers had been in hysterics at the moment Dave had knocked Tom off his chair in a moment of excitement, one of the many times he had bumped into Tom during his appearances on the show.
The Malone family, from Manchester, have been a regular fixture in the Gogglebox cast since 2014.
Gogglebox continues on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
