Gogglebox couch dweller Shaun Malone has explained why two of his siblings never appear on the Channel 4 series.

"When the show approached us, it was just me, Tom [Jr], mum and dad who were living together," Shaun recently told Metro.

"But Vanessa [his older sister] was at university and Lee [older brother] was off living in his house, so they weren't living at home, so it wouldn't have made sense for them to be on the show – that's literally the only reason."

Meanwhile, the professional football coach also admitted the Malones "didn't have a clue what would come of" their initial appearance on Gogglebox.

"We have been extremely fortunate that we have stayed doing it for [so] long. We never expected it to go on as long as it has."

Shaun's brother Tom has previously spoken of how the foursome (plus their dogs) were first drafted in by producers, recalling: "I was actually working at a dance studio at the time and my mum was working on the reception.

"They rang up and spoke to the owner to find out if there were any good families that would be good for the show, and they said us."
