Gogglebox star Stephen Webb has reportedly signed up to appear in the new series of 'Dancing on Ice'.

The hair salon owner-turned-reality TV star announced his departure from the Channel 4 series last month after spending a decade on the sofa watching TV in front of the cameras - but The Sun newspaper now report he's going be getting his skates on to join the ITV talent show when it returns to screens in the new year.

A source told the publication: "Many ['Gogglebox' stars] develop profiles in their own right and inevitably receive offers to appear on other shows.

"If they do go on other things they are making official their transition to celebrity, and Gogglebox reviewers are meant to be regular members of the public.

“Stephen had very much developed his own profile. It wasn’t a surprise he received other offers, though no one would have necessarily guessed he’d be doing 'Dancing On Ice'."

Stephen and his partner Daniel Lustig recently confirmed their exit from 'Gogglebox' explaining they had decided to bow out so they could pursue other opportunities.

In a joint statement posted on Instagram, the couple explained: "We feel like the time is right to move on and explore new opportunities. We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show.

"We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, our 'Gogglebox' family as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all your love and support over the years."

Production company Studio Lambert and Channel 4 added in a statement: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show.

"As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last 10 years.

"We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."

'Dancing on Ice' will be back on TV early next year and rumoured contestants including S Club star Hannah Spearritt.
