Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley share 'sad' news as fans say 'it won't be the same'

Gogglebox's beloved duo Dave and Shirley Griffiths have sparked a wave of disappointment among viewers following their show update.

The couple from Caerphilly, who have been a part of the Channel 4 show since 2015, announced that the latest episode aired on Friday, May 24, is the series finale. In a video shared with their Instagram followers, the couple confirmed from their lounge that they would be off-screens until September, according to reports from Wales Online.

Shirley addressed her followers saying, "Hi everyone don't forget to tune in tonight at 9pm, have a good weekend and enjoy the bank holiday. Lots of love, Shirl."

Shirley concluded her message by blowing a kiss towards the camera, whilst her partner Dave added, "Yes, sadly the last one tonight for the series so make sure you watch, all have a great summer. Oh and by the way, don't forget the voting for the NTAs (National Television Awards) has opened so if you can afford us a vote, Gogglebox, we'd appreciate it. Have a great summer, tara all, see you next time around.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Their video was captioned: "Have a great summer all see in September."

This led to a surge of comments from disheartened fans. One of them wrote: "Noooooo is this series over already? Have a lovely summer both. See you on the tv in September."

"Oh no, Friday nights won't be the same without Googlebox," noted another viewer while another fan echoed similar sentiments saying, "I agree missing them already! ".

"Have a great summer you two, see you tonight and will definitely cast my vote for you," a third fan chimed in. "So when are you getting your own show? Until next time... Cheers Dave and Shirl! ".

Echoing the sentiment, another viewer expressed: "Gutted it's the last one until September. Friday nights won't be the same. Have a fantastic summer both of you."
